Goal: $180 million
The cornerstone of the campaign is a first-rate new hospital — so well-designed and technologically advanced that it will redefine the meaning of outstanding patient- and family-centered care.
Overlooking the Eisenhower Expressway and with a direct line of sight to downtown, the new hospital will be an impressive addition to the Chicago landscape. The new facility will serve as a gateway to the Illinois Medical District, which includes the John H. Stroger Hospital, the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago and the new American Red Cross regional headquarters.
The new hospital will feature leading-edge operating rooms and intensive care units, state-of-the-art imaging technology and an advanced bioterrorism response unit in an expanded emergency department, funded in part by a generous gift from the McCormick Tribune Foundation. Our new hospital will break down physical boundaries to care — locating related services where they are most convenient for patients. Integrated technology will provide streamlined registration and scheduling, faster and more accurate test results, real-time access to medical histories, and the latest scientific knowledge and treatment options.
Everything in the new hospital will focus on patients. Patients and guests will have the city’s best views of the Chicago skyline. Rooftop gardens and windows will flood the hospital with natural light. All patient rooms will be private and offer places for families to gather and remain with their loved ones. A welcoming lobby, café, waiting areas, and education and resource centers will create a hospital experience that enhances comfort and healing.
As part of a larger investment in the Illinois Medical District, Rush will renovate
existing patient care facilities, including the Atrium Building and the Kellogg
Pavilion, remove the oldest buildings on campus, and construct a new orthopedics
ambulatory building.
