Although much of the campaign focuses on Rush’s future, the Medical Center must continue to invest in excellence today. While making plans for facilities and endowment, for example, Rush will use campaign funds immediately to support and strengthen:
• Clinical programs that serve thousands of patients with heart disease, brain disorders, orthopedic conditions, prematurity and newborn disorders, diseases associated with aging, and many other conditions. (Download a PDF of our 2008 Annual Report, Quality at Rush, for more on the quality of Rush's patient care across clinical specialty areas.)
• Community programs ranging from clinics for low-income Chicagoans to disease and injury prevention and health mentoring programs in Chicago's West side neighborhoods. (Download a PDF of our 2009 Community Benefits Report for more on our commitment to the community.)
Finally, the campaign seeks unrestricted funds (also called discretionary support), which can be used whenever a great idea emerges or a new opportunity or challenge presents itself. Unrestricted gifts are great votes of confidence in Rush and allow Medical Center leaders to move forward with the assurance that funds are available to enhance patient care.
