Shaping health in Chicago and beyond
For more than a century and a half, Rush has provided superior health care to hundreds of thousands of people. Everything we do centers on one goal: improving patient care.
- U.S.News & World Report consistently ranks Rush as one of the top hospitals in Illinois and among the very best nationally.
- For the second time in a row, The American Nurses Association, with its highly competitive Magnet Award, places our excellent nurses among the very best in the country.
- For three years running, Rush has been named one of the five top-performing institutions providing superior patient care in a national survey conducted by the University HealthSystems Consortium (UHC) among 92 leading academic medical centers, including Mayo Clinic and Harvard's Brigham and Women's Hospital. The study focused on key measures of quality and safety.
- The UHC consistently ranks Rush among the nation's top hospitals for equity of care, meaning that Rush provides superior quality care to all patients regardless of background or socioeconomic status.
Educating caregivers
Since 1972, more than 10,000 doctors, nurses, researchers and allied health professionals have been awarded a Rush University degree. Most graduates remain in Illinois — and in Chicago in particular — where they reach a significant percentage of the community through skilled and compassionate care.
Improving care through research
Because the Medical Center is so intensely focused on patient care, Rush has developed special expertise in translational research — studies that move a discovery from the laboratory and into the life of the patient. This happens more quickly and more often at Rush than at many places because our researchers and clinicians work together to offer patients the latest research-based diagnostic and treatment approaches. And while their work is serving our patients, it's simultaneously shaping the next generation of breakthroughs.
